Our Next Chapter
Our lives are about to change very quickly. Our latest news is that Collin got a new job working as a software developer at Wayfair. We are moving to Boston, Massachusetts next month!!! Now we can say that we will go from Austin to Boston. We lived in the Austin area for 4 years now. It still blows my mind that we are moving so soon.
The big move kind of came unexpectedly. The original plan was to live in Texas for a few more years and eventually get a bigger house some place else. I thought for sure we'd live in our house until Autumn was in preschool. Sometimes in life, things happen when you least expect it.
Back in February, Collin got laid off from GM. He was one of the 14,000 employees that were laid off in the United States. Luckily, we prepared ourselves for what could happen. Collin started applying for jobs before he got the news he was being laid off. When he came home with his box full of office supplies, I knew it had already happened.
Collin's responsibility everyday was to apply for jobs. He had countless interviews, but no job offers for almost 3 months. Even though we were in a tricky situation, we still remained calm and had faith things would work out.
Finally, Collin received not only 1, but 2 job offers in 1 week! We got an offer from Wayfair and another offer from a job in California. It was a tough decision, because the job in California is close to family. We decided to choose Wayfair, because it's overall a better fit for our family. Collin is really excited about it. Not to mention, we will get discounts if we shop at Wayfair, right? ;)
Neither of us had been to Boston, but we have heard great things about about the general area. We look forward to exploring it's fascinating history, architecture, and seeing all 4 seasons again. Fall is my absolute favorite season and I've heard it's breathtaking during that time of year. Being a photographer, it makes me very excited to take pictures of all the sights we will see.
After making some updates, our house is now on the market. The more stuff we start packing, the more it's becoming so surreal. We still can't believe that our adventures in Texas are coming to an end. We will miss so many things about the Lonestar state. The beautiful bluebonnets in the springtime, the fireflies twinkling at night, the smell of delicious barbeques, and the friendly, down-to-earth people.
We've made so many wonderful memories during the last 4 years. We've had great jobs, bought our first house, and added Chloe and Autumn to our family. We will never forget the friends we've made. Friends that have made us feel like family. It's a bittersweet feeling, but we can't wait to enter this next chapter in our lives.
