Parenthood

How is it that we have been parents for three whole months?! Time certainly does fly when you're having fun. So much has happened during the past few months that I am trying to think of where to begin... Since we recently celebrated the holidays, things have been twice as busy. We had such a memorable holiday, and now it's back to reality.

Parenting so far has been a big change for us. (Change in a good way. :) ) We have learned so much about how to care for a baby, whether it be swaddling, bathing, feeding, or changing diapers. I feel like we have grown as parents just from those experiences. We also learn a lot from each other while taking care of Autumn. Collin and I are always a team and we make sure we communicate on daily basis on how Autumn is doing. For example, we keep track of when her last feeding was or when she last had a diaper change.

If Autumn is ever sick or fussy, our pediatrician gives us great advice. I absolutely love our pediatrician! Autumn has caught a few small colds in the past, but is doing wonderful now.

She is already getting so big. She's a little chunk and filling out so much! She is breastfed, but also takes a bottle really well. She already fits in 6 month clothes and is in size 3 diapers!

We noticed that she is becoming more aware of her surroundings. She is also starting to grab things like toy keys, rattles, and music toys. She is also making good eye contact with her parents and other people.

Her personality is starting to come out. We noticed that she will smile and giggle while around other people and her parents. She is overall a quiet and mellow baby, but will respond when people are near her.

She also has some fun nicknames that we have given her. We call her Auters, Autey Otterton, Auterpop, Little Face, Little Foot, Little Froggy, Little Toot Toot, and Baby Boo.

We were trying to figure out who she looks more like. Some people have said that she looks more like me and others say Collin. She definitely has a good mix of both. She has my almond-shaped eyes and nose, and Collin's coloring and lips.

When she was about 2 months old, we had her sleep in her crib in her own room through the night. As far as how long she sleeps through the night, it's definitely a hit or miss. She has nights where she will sleep through the night and others where she will wake up in the middle of the night. All in all, I'd say she's a good sleeper. This makes mom and dad very happy. :)

Yes, Parenthood is sleep deprivation. Parenthood is staying in your comfy clothes all day. Parenthood is hardly any time to brush your hair or teeth. But most of all, Parenthood is getting all the baby snuggles that you want. Parenthood is seeing your baby's eyes sparkle when they look at you. Parenthood is seeing your baby smile at you everyday!

I have to say that I love being a mom. It is the best feeling to hold your baby so close to you and all the love you feel for such a tiny human. Autumn is my everything and for that I am so grateful. She is just such a good baby and makes parenting so easy. We love her and feel very blessed.

The following are family and baby pictures. Enjoy!!! :D
