Autumn is One!!!

Before we knew it, Autumn's birthday had arrived. Where did the time go?? My tiny baby suddenly transformed into a tall 1-year-old. They weren't kidding when they said the first year goes by so quickly.

 Autumn's birthday is very special, because Halloween will always be the eve of her birthday. Just when you think the fun is over after Halloween, we get to celebrate a sweet girl's birthday the next day! Between Halloween candy and birthday cake, this girl is going to get twice as much sugar each year.

The day of Autumn's birthday was low key, but really good. Collin came home early from work to celebrate as a family. This year was her golden birthday since She turned 1 on the 1st. I got to take her one year pictures which was surprisingly easy. I know that sometimes getting pictures of kids is a struggle, but we ended up getting some cute pictures. Autumn is such a little model. To top it off, she got to eat her smash cake. She only ate the frosting on top, but seemed to enjoy it. 

We ended the night by eating homemade mac and cheese for dinner. This is one of Autumn's favorite meals. Collin did a wonderful job making dinner, as always.

We had a birthday party for our girl the Saturday after her birthday. Our neighbors and friends came to celebrate. We had pizza for lunch and, of course, there was more cake. :) After singing Happy Birthday to Autumn, she started crying. I guess she got overwhelmed with all the singing. She was happy again once she ate her cake. She also received so many nice gifts from family and friends. 

Since we live so far away from our families, it was so nice to spend time with great friends. Autumn is loved by so many which makes my heart full. I really can't believe that we have been parents for a year. I will never forget the feeling of holding my baby girl in my arms for the first time. We have loved watching her grow and explore the world. She has been a wonderful addition to our family this past year. We are so blessed. I know there are more exciting things to come for our big girl. We are excited to see what the future holds for our sweetheart.

Autumn is officially here! This time, it actually feels like autumn. The weather got cold really fast here in the Boston area. We have been gearing up our sweaters, scarves, boots, and heavy jackets for the cool weather ahead. I'll be honest, I've never been more excited! Texas is just too hot for too long so it's nice to have a break from the heat. Plus, New England has brilliant fall colors. You don't see much of that in Texas. The last time I blogged, it was August. We knew we had to squeeze in summer plans before it got too cold. This includes lots of beach trips since we live so close to the ocean. Fast forward to September, we had family come visit us in Massachusetts.  During the first week of September, my sister Kelsey and niece Abbey paid us a visit from California. Our Next Chapter

Our lives are about to change very quickly. Our latest news is that Collin got a new job working as a software developer at Wayfair. We are moving to Boston, Massachusetts next month!!! Now we can say that we will go from Austin to Boston. We lived in the Austin area for 4 years now. It still blows my mind that we are moving so soon. The big move kind of came unexpectedly. The original plan was to live in Texas for a few more years and eventually get a bigger house some place else. I thought for sure we'd live in our house until Autumn was in preschool. Sometimes in life, things happen when you least expect it. Back in February, Collin got laid off from GM. He was one of the 14,000 employees that were laid off in the United States. Luckily, we prepared ourselves for what could happen. Collin started applying for jobs before he got the news he was being laid off. Austin to Boston

SO. MUCH. HAS. HAPPENED! It has been a whirlwind. We've just made the big move to the Boston area. We've lived here for a month now and so far we love it! Bear with me, this may be a long post, because we had a lot happen recently. Before moving, we couldn't leave without doing our last hurrahs in Texas. We decided to revisit the places in the Austin area that we always enjoyed. Our house was soon under contract after two weeks of being on the market. Time crept on us and it was time to move. Saying goodbye to the place that we've called home for four years was not easy, but we knew that there were great things to come. During the moving process, Autumn and I made a quick getaway to California. We figured that it would be easier for Autumn if we fly to California first to see my family.
